This release is a maintenance update of Data Integrator 9.0.3. In addition to everything offered in the original 9.0.3 version, it includes a large number of bug fixes and enhancements added since 9.0.3 became available in July 2008.
Your license enables the features that you can use. However, you may find documentation for features that you have not purchased.
The file InstallDir\Common\Help\contact.htm contains the following topics:
In the help system, clicking the Contact Information link under About Help and Support displays the same topics.
This release has been tested on the following systems and platforms.
Technical support is provided only for these systems and platforms.
The installer automatically checks both Windows and Unix systems for a supported JRE version.
Version 8.x of the integration platform supports either Data Profiler 3.x or 4.x. With Data Integrator 9.0.3, you must use Data Profiler 4.0 or higher. In integration processes, the version of Data Profiler Invoker must match the version of Data Profiler being invoked.
Integration Manager 1.4.2 is supported only with version 8.x of the integration platform. You must use Integration Manager 1.6 or higher with Data Integrator 9.0.3.
Note Integration Manager requires a separate license.
Integration Server and its SDK are installed automatically with the integration platform on both Windows and Unix systems. The SDK can also be installed separately on other machines. See Integration Server and SDK Guide for more information.
See supplemental release notes installed with this feature.
This release of Data Integrator provides improvements made in the following areas:
Important internal features have been added to support Pervasive Data Mediation Service (DMS) connectivity solutions. These features are required for DMS development.
In addition to new features added since the last release, fixes and enhancements have been made in response to change requests from customers, internal quality engineering, and technical support engineering. For a list of these items, download the change log from Product Updates on the Pervasive web site.
The following information supplements installation instructions in the online help.
These notes cover installation on Microsoft Windows operating systems. Additional release notes are provided for each supported Unix operating system.
These notes cover installation on Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Installation requires administrator rights.
Data Integrator uses a license file with an .slc file extension to enable product features. You can obtain this file from your sales representative or by registering at the Pervasive web site to download it using the License Manager application installed with the integration platform. To enable more features, contact your sales representative.
For best performance, your computer needs physical memory to meet the requirements of the operating system and all applications.
If you have a dual video card, disable all title bar settings on the card before running Data Integrator.
The Data Integrator installer automatically registers Microsoft CRM .dll files for the following .NET Framework versions:
To verify, select the Microsoft CRM entry in Add/Remove Programs or look in C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework.
If you have .NET Framework versions other than one of the versions listed above, you must register the Microsoft CRM .dll files manually using the following steps:
regasm.exe DjMsCrmComObj.dll /tlb /codebase
regasm.exe DjMsCrmComObj3.dll /tlb /codebase
In order to perform the installation, you must have administrator rights on the computer where the program will be installed. If you do not currently have those rights, contact your support area for assistance.
Note For instructions on upgrading from 7.x or 8.x, see the online help. For instructions on upgrading from 9.x, see Upgrading in this readme file.
The installation creates detailed log files for each major portion of the install, such as connectors and documentation. The log files are located in the InstallDir\Cosmos9\InstallLogs directory. Log files under 15 KB generally indicate a problem with the installation.
Note To install the Integration Engine on a server, see the online help.
You can upgrade your integration platform from 7.x, 8.x, or 9.x. To upgrade from 7.x, you must temporarily install 8.14. For step-by-step instructions on upgrading from 7.x or from 8.x, see the online help. To upgrade from 9.x, complete the following procedure.
Side-by-Side Installation: Data Integrator 9.0.3 can be installed on the same machine with version 8.x. Side-by-side installation works for both Design Studio and engine-only environments. For instructions, see the upgrading topic in the online help.
Note Data Integrator 9.0.3 cannot be run side-by-side with other 9.x versions. Instead, upgrade the older version to 9.0.3.
Note You may want to back up your repositories before removing 9.x. However, after installation, 9.0.3 will automatically use your existing repositories.
The following tables show new locations of key files in version 9.x compared to their former locations in version 8.x.
In version 8.x, the Common800 folder contains both application- and user-specific files. In version 9.x, these files have been divided between a Common folder for Data Integrator itself and an individual Common folder for each user. A number of locations listed in this topic are user-specific.
Note Common800 is the default folder for target file output in version 8.x. For 9.x on XP and Server 2003, it is C:\Documents and Settings\username and on Vista C:\Users\username.
The default location for data integration workspaces. Users may choose another location.

As of version 9.0, when a user first opens the Microsoft Access .mdb file that stores extract scripts, it is automatically copied to a user-specific location. Applications such as Extract Schema Transfer Utility then use that personal copy for that user.
License Manager offers the following paths as the default location for the License folder used as the Active License Directory. Users may choose another location.
The first time that a user starts an integration application that logs run-time information, the application creates a folder for log files. The folder is specific to that user and is named after the application, such as \Logs\MapDesigner.
